ABC... (part I)

A
The first letter I notice was coincidentally the letter "A"  I found this letter at one of my favorite stores, Urban Outfitters. The "A" consist of two pillars meeting at the ceiling, and the top of the horizontal turquoise wall completes the shape of the letter.

C
This letter was found at Del Amo Mall Shopping Center. I've passed numerous of times by this fountain and never notices its shape. I chose the form of the fountain to illustrate the capital letter "C" because I took interest in its bold figure and large size.

 J
As one can see the obvious shape of the hooks are in the form of the letter "J". This was found at target. I like the swirls at the top and I like that they are colored black (it gives me some ideas for a font type).

 x
It is clear that the letter "x" is shown here. Although it is small it was not hard to spot because of its bright red color. This was also found at the Del Amo Mall Shopping Center.

 y
I absolutely love this poster, which was also found at Urban Outfitters. The letter "y" is slightly hidden but can still be distinguished by following the light Grey color along the upper right hand size. I like how the background matches the models top, and yet its pattern is not lost because of the opposite direction of the lines.

 P
I utterly love jewelry, so I thought I would take a look and see if I could find any letters. I was able to find the letter "P" in one of my bracelets.I added the owl necklace to make the bracelet a bit more appealing. Although its not very clear in this image I like how the metallic colors, (gold & silver) go well together.

 T
I found this letter "T" at the hotel I recently stayed at. I like how the lighting goes well with the golden color of the figure. The letter "T' is truly in a symmetrical form. I believe the "T" shape depicts balance, as it is shown with the two lamps on either side.

 Y
I must admit that I did not notice the letter "Y" until after I reviewed my pictures from my trip to Vegas. I adore the marble like material of the sculpture and its smooth surface. This was taken in front of the Cesar's Palace Hotel.

 A
This may not be the real Eiffel Tower, but the shape of the letter "A" does come to mind when viewing this image. The form of the "A" is elongated and narrow.

 o
This image is probably one of my favorites. I obviously didn't come across this set up by coincidence but nonetheless the form of the letter "o" is clearly illustrated in this image. I chose to set this up because of the relation between the letter "o" and the oranges.

K
As for my last letter of this batch is the letter "K" I thought it would be difficult to find this letter in my everyday environment but as I was drawing sitting before me was this mannequin in shape of the letter "K" I added the sketch book, pencils, markers, and ruler just for fun (it illustrates variety). I think it make the image more interesting to look at than just to shoot a mannequin alone.

Typography Class

Athena Goddess of War and Wisdom
Hello my name is Marcy Garcia and I’m in love with all things Greek! The above image is the Goddess of war and wisdom (Athena). She represents my passion for problem solving, creativity, and knowledge. As a graphic design major I look forward to my lettering and typography class. I first took interest in the class when I saw some of the student work posted at El Camino College. I expect to obtain and through time improve my basic fundamental skills of typography. I would also like to obtain a better understating of a proper layout, and looking forward to working with Adobe illustrator. Expanding my knowledge is a key factor to improve my skills in design, and I’m sure taking this Lettering and Typography Class will do just that!
